Christ Church Anniversary Festival

Make plans to visit Christ Church in Port Republic on June 4 for an afternoon of fun and entertainment from 10am-4pm.
The church is celebrating 350 years of continuing worship with a celebration. Organizers promise there will be something for everyone. Children will enjoy pony rides, a petting zoo, a magic show, balloon artists, face painting, and arts and crafts.
Adults will love the variety of food and artisan vendors, scavenger hunt and the cemetery storytelling. Individuals will be telling the stories of the lives of a few of the former parishioners buried in the churchyard. The story of Margaret Brent also will be narrated.
Take a glimpse back at the 17th century and learn how to do the Virginia reel and enjoy music in the one-room schoolhouse. Music will be provided by the popular Port Tobacco Pickers, a bluegrass band with a twist.
The church, Biblical Garden and schoolhouse will be open for visitors. They are historical buildings that you will want see.
